Repentance

When someone truly wants to change they must choose to repent. Repentance is the decision to stop the activities that are immoral, unhealthy, and ungodly, and choose to turn fully into the love, redemption, and forgiveness of Jesus.

Jesus said –

I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.’€
I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.
I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

Later, Peter shares that repentance brings the power of the Holy Spirit into one’s life-
Peter replied, ‘€œRepent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord…

True repentance leads to the pursuit of God’s ways and the life He wants for us. This is very different than just feeling bad – it’s realizing that your actions, lifestyle, and decisions are against God’s way for His children-
Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.

God wants everyone to come to Him and ask for His forgiveness.
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

By keeping your issue a secret you are giving it power to destroy your life while it spreads as a cancer into your thoughts, actions, and relationships. Isolation is the worst way to live a full life, because it convinces a person that no one needs to know, that no one really understands, and ultimately, that no one really cares. That’€™s not true! Life on life community is the best way for a person to flourish in their understanding of self, others and God. However, when we spend all our energies protecting our secret from the world this mindset can create an independence stronghold that feels true but is a lie really killing you from the inside out.
