How to avoid post-vacation blues

Going on vacation is absolutely essential for your mental health but sometimes it can feel like you need a vacation from your vacation. Coming back home can feel like such a letdown after doing something so out of the ordinary. So how do we prevent depression from rolling over us when we know it's going to be months before we can take our next break?

Make sure your house is spotless before leaving for vacation.

Coming home to a clean house always makes me feel so much more relaxed. You can set your suitcase down and climb into bed and sleep after a long day of travel without the worries of “chores” hanging over your head.

Take an extra day off

Sometimes the prospect of traveling for a day and going back to work the next can be overwhelming. Take an extra day off after your travels and plan for nothing so you have that buffer between vacation and work.

Plan something exciting for the weekend

If you come home with no plans for the future, you are going to feel rather sad. If you have the next exciting thing already planned, you have something else to look forward to.

Have your next vacation planned

If you line out all of your vacation plans ahead of time you will be better equipped to handle the moments of life in between. It’s like seeing the light at the end of the tunnel always!
